4. We humanize God too much

We have a tendency to see God in the same light as ourselves or others. We think God thinks and feels the same way we do and communicate with Him as such. We are often afraid to trust God because of our experiences with people whom we have trusted, and let us down. So, we think, God’s the same:

God’s Statement:

You can only hope in man.
You can only trust in God.

Question: Why is it that we can only hope in people?

God’s Statement:

No one is perfect.

5. We are afraid to say “Thy will be done” because God’s will may mean that we have to suffer and make sacrifices:

When we read the story of Jesus' passion and death, it brings fear to our hearts: “What if God’s will is to make me suffer?” This is why there are those who fear saying these words because God’s will is associated with pain, suffering and sacrifice.

In Chapter 22, God explains that the interpretation that Jesus conceded to the Father’s will during the Agony in the Garden is wrong. Jesus did not choose between His own will and The Fathers will. He accepted His passion and death because He knew it had to be done.

Question: God, is this correct?

God’s answer:

Be true to your Self.

Meaning: Jesus Christ allowed himself to suffer and die because He was being true to Himself, a selfless God willing to give up His life for those He loved. We are self-serving, He is not.

Likewise, when we say “Thy will be done” whatever it is that we do, even if it involves suffering and sacrifice, we do because we are being true to the Self of God , which is our true Self and not because God is forcing us to do so.

In other words, when you say “Father, thy will be done”, it means:

You are willing to do what I would do. You are not conflicted. You are at peace with your self.

6. We don’t know if God really loves us

We often hear the statement “God loves you” but when times are rough and God doesn’t seem to be responding fast enough, it’s hard to believe that He
